WHY We Do THIS WORK?

The Beginnings of Race to Action
We have been doing this work consciously since 1994, professionally as well as personally. Through the years we have had many challenging conversations about race that have deepened our understandings of one another and our commitment to this work. We have observed ourselves, our colleagues, and our clients trying to navigate the maze of racism as it divides us.
With the current divisive climate, we feel compelled to create safe spaces where all individuals can come together and begin to unpack the complexities of race as it impacts us personally and professionally. Understanding the importance of intersectionality in our lives and how our individual stories shape who we are resulting in implicit and explicit biases. Our goals are to support organizations, schools, and communities to become more comfortable talking about race and its influence on our local and larger community.
"History is not the past.
hISTORY IS THE PRESENT.
WE CARRY OUR HISTORY WITH US.
TO THINK OTHERWISE IS CRIMINAL."
James Baldwin, 1986
